MICRO-NEEDLE MESOTHERAPY (Dermapen and Dermaroller)

dermaroller-vs-dermapen-3-640x468What is Micro-needle Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is one of the most effective non-surgical therapies which is undertaken to rejuvenate the skin. In mesotherapy, micro injections are administered to place amounts of specific substances directly into target areas, underneath the layers of skin. Preparations injected into the skin constitute mixtures of medicines adapted to the given clinical problem. Usually, we apply a mixture of vitamins, amino acids, organic silica, microelements, vitamins, hyaluronic acid, retinol and vegetable extracts. Years-long exposure to harmful environmental influences, stress, smoking, alcohol and sun radiation results in unfavourable changes in the skin. Mesotherapy allows reversal, hindering and slowing down of many unfavourable changes and constitutes a valuable component of anti-aging medicine. This method is way more effective than the top cosmetic treatments as much needed nutrients are directly fed to the layers.

Mesotherapy can be undertaken to treat skin problems like acne, wrinkles, skin lacking firmness and elasticity, hyperpigmentation, discolouration, cellulite, stretch marks (in various body areas), localized fat tissue (upper arms, hips and buttocks for example) etc. Mesotherapy is also effective in treating hair loss, poorly nourished hair and recurrent dandruff, also alopecia. The best therapeutic results can be achieved with regular treatments. Frequency of sessions depends on the skin condition, individual patient’s problem and chosen preparation.

There are several benefits of this therapy:

  • Effect of skin tightening, strengthening and softening wrinkles.
  • Improvement of the face tone and oval.
  • Proper skin nutrition, regeneration and deep hydration.
  • Skin ageing prevention and face rejuvenation.
  • Creation of new blood vessels.
  • Hundered creation of harmful free radicals.
  • Stimulation of fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin.
  • Stimulation of skin regeneration – replacement with new cells.
  • Improved skin cell metabolism and micro-circulation.
  • It is very safe. It is less intense yet effective than other invasive treatments.
  • It involves microinjections thus causing minimal distress to the patients.
  • The therapy is quick and each treatment can be completed in 45 to 60 mins.
  • There is minimal down time involved, most of patients are able to resume work as soon as they are done with therapy.

Is this a painful treatment?

The injections are not very painful (If the patient has a low pain sensitivity threshold, numbing cream may be applied). Injections are made using meso-gun with a very thin needle. After the treatment, there remain marks on the skin in the form of spots or a grid – depending on the technique of the treatment. The marks disappear within a time dependent on the administered medicine – from 6 to 72 hours. Massage is performed after the treatment, which allows even distribution of the ingredients injected into the skin. The medicines remain active for even a month after the treatment.

Therapy schedule

Skin needling may be performed at any time of the year.

Stage 1        Intensive therapy:         2 treatments per month during 3 months
Stage 2              Care:   1 treatment per 2-3 months

When does the effect appear and how long does it last?

  • Instant results – increased elasticity, firmness and brightening of the skin;
  • Long-term results – restored smoothness and density of the skin.

Post-treatment recommendations

  • Basic care;
  • Avoiding the sunshine (sunbeds);
  • Skin intense hydration.

Side effects

  • Redness and pin points after the needle and disappear spontaneously after a few minutes or hours;
  • Very rare allergic reactions which manifest by erythema and disappear spontaneously after a few minutes or hours;
  • Bruising, haematomas – the risk of abnormalities increases in case of use of anticoagulants (e.g. aspirin) right before the treatment.
